"My First Experience with R
was the Intro to R class and bootcamp (BUAN 6356) and then I thought I could try my hand at larger datasets.
Unfortunately, I kept running into issues, crashes, importing problems, my computer nearly bursting into flames, memory crashes, and I would like to share with you my experiences so that you will not have to go through what I went through.
Come with me on my journey of late nights, sadness, and energy-drink fueled googling to show you the things that I didn’t learn from my base R class."
"These are the topics I am going to cover:
-
Importing data problems and useful global options
-
Lessons I learned Crashing R and the 3 types of crashes
- (a) Mini crash – It’s sluggish and I don’t know why
- (b) Screen Crash – the screen is stuck and it won’t do anything
- (c) White Screen Crash – nothing but Christmas
-
Saving, Loading, Nuking your Environment because you…Ran Out of Memory
-
Making sure your computer can take the heat
-
Extra topics if we have time
- (a) MRO vs BaseR and how to change between them
- (b) Did you know there are two if statements in R? If and Ifelse
